Singh, a longtime ally of International Rivers, has spent 30 years reviving traditional knowledge and building small rainwater ponds across his home state of Rajasthan in northern India. Because of his work, five Rajasthani rivers have sprung back to life, and over a thousand villages now have reliable access to clean drinking water again. After accepting the prize, Singh plans to embark on a five-year walk across five continents. His World Water Peace Walks will visit sites where people have devised grassroots solutions to water challenges.
